Morello · Standard steering
Morello battery-powered die carts with standard steering
Battery-powered die carts and flatbed transfer carts with conventional steering for dies, molds, coils and heavy machinery. Free-ranging on wheels, no rails, from 1 t to over 500 t (over 1,102,500 lb).
Key features
Why plants choose SGAI standard steering
No rails, no fixed path
SGAI runs on almost any floor, indoors or outdoors, and goes where overhead cranes cannot reach.
Two steering layouts
VS front-axle steering for open areas, VC front-and-rear steering for a tighter turning radius. Models with 4, 8 or 16 wheels (VS/VC, VSP1/VCP1, VSP3/VCP3).
Built to the load
Deck size, capacity, wheels, speed and controls are engineered after a review of your load and plant layout.
Operator on board or remote
Drive from a cabin or standing footplate, or run it with a pendant panel or radio remote.
Lifting deck option
A self-loading lifting deck with a stroke from 50 mm (2 in) picks up the load without a crane.
Upgrade to AGV
Any SGAI cart can be upgraded to an AGV. ATEX, IECEx and NEC 500 versions are available too.
Configurations
SGAI configurations
Die carts
Flat, low decks for press dies and injection molds, moving between storage, presses and maintenance areas.

Die carts with lifting deck
An on-board lifting deck lets the cart slide under the die, lift it and carry it to the press without a crane.

How it works
What SGAI means in the Morello range
SGAI is Morello's battery-powered flatbed cart with standard steering. The name is an Italian acronym: Semovente (self-propelled), Gommato (on rubber-tired wheels), Alimentazione (powered by), Idraulica o accumulatori (hydraulics or batteries). In short, a self-propelled cart on wheels, powered by batteries or hydraulics.
Standard steering comes in two layouts, with axles that steer up to ±45°. VS steers the front axle only, like a car, with a wider turning radius for open aisles. VC steers the front and rear axles for a tighter radius. Both are built with 4, 8 or 16 wheels (VS/VC, VSP1/VCP1, VSP3/VCP3) depending on the load. When the route is clear and predictable, SGAI is the practical choice; for tight multidirectional moves, see OMNI.

Standard Steering – SGAI: frequently asked questions
What is a Morello SGAI cart?
SGAI is Morello's battery-powered flatbed cart with standard steering. It moves heavy loads on wheels, without rails, on almost any floor, indoors and outdoors. It is widely used as a die cart, and also for coils, castings, machinery and other heavy loads from 1 t to over 500 t (over 1,102,500 lb).
What does SGAI stand for?
SGAI is an Italian acronym used by Morello: Semovente (self-propelled), Gommato (rubber-tired), Alimentazione (powered by), Idraulica o accumulatori (hydraulics or batteries). It describes a self-propelled cart that runs on wheels, with no rails, powered by batteries or hydraulics.
What is the difference between VS and VC steering?
VS steers only the front axle, like a car. It is the simplest and most economical option but needs more room to turn. VC steers the front and rear axles at the same angle, so the cart turns in a tighter radius. VC is common in automotive mold handling and steel plants.
When should I choose SGAI instead of OMNI?
Choose SGAI when routes are clear and loading points are easy to reach, such as moving dies between storage and presses. Choose OMNI when the cart must travel sideways, diagonally or rotate in place in very tight spaces. Any SGAI cart can also be upgraded to an AGV.
