About CHIA-MO
Precision accessories for machine tools since 1972
CHIA-MO has designed and manufactured precision accessories for machine tools since 1972 in Anzola dell'Emilia, Bologna. Design, machining and final testing all happen in-house, starting from certified materials and heat treatments.
Each production step is checked and tracked by barcode, and final inspection uses SIT-certified measuring instruments. About 95% of standard products are in stock, so standard items usually ship the same day the order arrives.

Lathe collets and tool holders made in Italy
CHIA-MO makes collets for single-spindle CNC and Swiss-type lathes, multi-spindle automatics and bar feeders. Collets are made from certified steel, tempered and fully ground, with round, hexagonal, square or special bores and smooth, grooved or serrated surfaces. A carbide coating in the bore is available for more grip. Collets with stops, out-of-center collets and special EDM shapes are also offered. Collets for ER systems to DIN 6499 and feed fingers with quick-change inserts are part of the range too. Machine coverage includes Star, Tornos, Citizen, Tsugami, Nomura, Hanwha, Index, Traub and Schütte, among others.
For turning centers, CHIA-MO supplies BMT and VDI (DIN 69880) tool holders, boring bar sleeves, live centers, tap and die holders and broaching tools. Pneumatic collet vises clamp round parts on machining centers. Every part is designed, made and tested in-house, and about 95% of standard items are in stock in Italy, usually shipping the same day. Special chucks and holders are built to drawing. Prella Technologies quotes and supports CHIA-MO tooling for US shops.

Does CHIA-MO make collets for my Swiss-type lathe?
CHIA-MO makes collets and carbide guide bushes for sliding headstock lathes, for both main and sub-spindle. Listed machine brands include Star, Tornos, Citizen, Tsugami, Nomura, Manurhin, Hanwha and Nexturn. Send Prella the machine model and bar size and shape, and we will confirm the right collet.
Can CHIA-MO collets have non-round bores?
Yes. Bores can be round, hexagonal, square or a special profile made on request. The bore surface can be smooth, grooved or serrated, and a carbide coating can be added for higher clamping force. Out-of-center collets, collets with stops and special shapes made by EDM are also available.
How fast can CHIA-MO standard products ship?
CHIA-MO keeps about 95% of its standard products in stock at its plant near Bologna. Standard material usually ships the same day the order is received. Transit time to the US depends on the courier. Prella confirms availability and delivery date with every quote.
Which tool holder systems does CHIA-MO offer for CNC lathes?
