Angle heads and multi-spindle heads for CNC machining
ROMAI angle heads turn the spindle of a machining center 90°, to a fixed angle or to any angle from 0° to 90°. That lets one machine drill, ream, countersink, thread and mill side features without a second setup. Forms S and S-2 cover jobs with free access. Forms W and G have a set-back output for deep pockets and narrow bores. Form D adds a fine-adjustable angle. Multi-spindle heads machine several holes at once, stationary or changeable for large series, adjustable for small batches. Many heads offer internal MQL coolant.
For lathes, ROMAI driven tools come in axial, radial and angled forms. High-speed spindles add more than 100,000 rpm, depending on version, for micro-machining. Machine components such as star turrets and revolver drill heads complete the range. ROMAI also maintains and repairs gearboxes of other makes, and ROlog logs operating data in real time. Prella Technologies quotes ROMAI tooling for US manufacturers.
ROMAI: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between ROMAI angle head forms?
Form S is a standard 90° head and S-2 adds a second output. Forms W and G have a set-back output to maximize usable tool length in tight spaces. Form F works at one fixed angle, Form D adjusts from 0° to 90° (110° optional), and Form X is extremely compact. Special versions are built to customer requirements.
Can ROMAI build a custom angle head or multi-spindle head?
Yes. Special versions are a core part of ROMAI's work. Heads can be adapted with special tool holders, gear ratios, cooling concepts, spindle counts and spacing. Send Prella your part drawing, machine model and spindle interface, and we will forward a complete request to ROMAI for a technical proposal.
Does ROMAI repair angle heads from other manufacturers?
Yes. ROMAI maintains and repairs angle heads, multi-spindle heads, driven tools, high-speed spindles and gears, including products from third-party makers. Signs a head needs service include lost precision, poor surface finish, overheating, unusual noise or crash damage. After inspection, ROMAI sends a cost estimate before the repair.
What is ROlog?
ROlog is ROMAI's operation logger for its transmission gearboxes. Sensors record speed, temperature, impulses and operating hours, and flag events when values exceed set limits. Data is read by Bluetooth or NFC with the ROlog app for Android and iOS, helping plan maintenance. Compatibility depends on the gearbox, so ask Prella to confirm.
