About SIR Meccanica
On-site machining since 1991
SIR Meccanica builds portable multifunction machine tools in Italy. Its first machine, the BIMOTOR, was launched in 1991 to repair earthmoving equipment on the job site instead of in the shop. Today the range covers eight series for in-line boring, overlay welding, facing, turning, tapping, threading, drilling and linear cutting.
Every machine goes through a quality control process and a final test before shipping. Prella Technologies handles quote, delivery, start-up and service for SIR Meccanica machines across North America.

Portable line boring, bore welding and flange facing machines in the US
A worn pin bore on an excavator boom or a damaged flange on a pressure vessel usually means downtime. Pulling the part, shipping it to a machine shop and reinstalling it takes days or weeks. SIR Meccanica portable line boring machines bring the machine tool to the part. The WS series bores and weld-builds holes from 22 mm (0.87 in) up to 1,700 mm (66.9 in) in one setup. The FMax portable flange facing machines handle faces up to 6,000 mm (236 in). TOP orbital lathes turn fixed tubular parts, and WTMax machines cut internal threads on site.
Prella Technologies supplies SIR Meccanica machines to US and Canadian contractors, rental fleets, shipyards and plant maintenance teams. We help you size the right model and kits for your bores, flanges and threads. Then we handle delivery, start-up and service from our East Dundee, Illinois office. For field repair crews, that means less downtime on heavy equipment and fewer parts shipped out to a machine shop. For plants, it means critical components get repaired where they are installed.
SIR Meccanica: frequently asked questions
What is a portable line boring machine?
A portable line boring machine mounts directly on the equipment and machines worn or oval bores in place. SIR Meccanica WS machines bore and overlay weld holes and pin joints in one setup, so you restore the bore to original size without dismantling the machine or sending parts to a workshop.
Can one machine both weld and bore?
Yes. The WS series combines in-line boring and overlay welding. You build up the worn bore with weld, then machine it back to size with the same setup. SIR Meccanica also offers the Rotary Welding series for dedicated internal and external overlay welding of tubular bodies.
What sizes can SIR Meccanica machines handle?
Machining diameters run from Ø 22 mm (0.87 in) on the W Smaller up to Ø 1,700 mm (66.9 in) on the WS7 Plus Triphasic. The FMax flange facing range reaches Ø 6,000 mm (236.2 in). Prella can recommend the model and kits that match your parts.
