Four categories
Four ways to move a heavy load
Most Morello carts are battery-powered with AC electric motors; rail and special carts can also run on grid power. Pick the category that fits your load and layout, then add the AGV upgrade if you want it to drive itself.
Steering ±90°
Front axle turns ±90° for a tight turning radius. Heavy-duty electric pallet trucks and compact carts up to 100 t (220,500 lb).
Best for: tight turns, pallet loads
Standard Steering – SGAI
Battery-powered die carts and transporters with front-axle or all-axle steering. Free-ranging on wheels, no rails, 1 t to 500 t (2,205 to 1,102,500 lb).
Best for: open floors, free routes
OMNI multidirectional carts
Sideways, diagonal and 360° moves for tight spaces and confined areas.
Best for: tight plants, press lines
Rail System
Rail-guided transfer carts for fixed routes. Battery, grid, diesel or pneumatic power, operator-controlled or automatic RGV, up to 1,000 t (2.2 million lb).
Best for: fixed routes, long runs

About Morello
Italian engineering for heavy loads since 1946
Morello has designed and built handling equipment in Italy since 1946, and its equipment works every day in over 45 countries. Each transfer cart, die cart, AGV and heavy-duty mover is engineered around the customer's load, floor and route.
Its carts work in automotive, metallurgy, aerospace, oil & gas and shipbuilding plants, with capacities above 1,000 t (2.2 million lb) and ATEX and IECEx versions for hazardous areas. Prella Technologies is the official Morello distributor in the USA.

Choosing a Morello die cart or transfer cart
A die cart, also called a die transfer cart or die handling cart, moves stamping dies and molds between storage and the press. A transfer cart moves heavy loads between bays, buildings or production lines. Morello builds both as battery-powered, self-propelled carts with AC electric motors: standard steering for open aisles and fixed routes, OMNI multidirectional steering for tight press lines, rail-guided trolleys for long fixed runs, and electric pallet jacks that lift the load themselves.
To size a cart we need the load weight and footprint, the route length and width, the floor condition and any slope, and how many moves per shift. Standard die carts range from 5 to over 100 metric tons (11,000 to over 220,000 lb); custom carts go above 500 t (1.1 million lb).
Morello transfer carts: frequently asked questions
Is Prella Technologies an official Morello distributor?
Yes. Prella Technologies in East Dundee, Illinois, is the official Morello distributor in the United States. We quote, deliver, commission and service Morello carts for North American plants.
What load capacities do Morello carts cover?
Morello designs carts for loads above 1,000 metric tons (2.2 million lb). Standard die carts range from 5 to over 100 metric tons (11,000 to over 220,000 lb), and custom die carts go above 500 t. Deck size and capacity are set on your load.
What is the difference between standard steering and OMNI multidirectional carts?
Standard steering carts are built for open areas and fixed routes. OMNI multidirectional carts drive and steer every wheel unit, so they can move sideways, diagonally and rotate 360° in place, which makes them the choice for tight plants and press lines.
Are Morello carts battery-powered?
Most of them are. Wheeled Morello carts are battery-powered with AC electric motors, while rail and special carts can also run on grid power. Battery options include lead acid, gel, lithium and pure lead, and range runs from about 1 to over 9 miles (1.5 to over 15 km) depending on configuration.
Can Morello carts run automatically?
Yes. Morello builds AGV automated guided carts that move molds and tooling on repetitive routes without an operator, and OMNI carts can be supplied with AGV guidance and Industry 4.0 connectivity.
Which industries use Morello carts?
Automotive stamping and die-casting, metallurgy, aerospace, oil and gas, shipbuilding, power generation, nuclear, defense, paper mills and general metalworking.
Are there Morello carts for hazardous areas?
Yes. Morello offers EX-rated trolleys with ATEX and IECEx certification for explosive atmospheres, including Zone 1 and Zone 2.
